As with the distribution of primary schools
outlined previously, the areas covered under this review do not have a single health
facility. Lack of health facilities
has led to a high rate of child mortality. The nearest facilities are almost
10km from the edges of these villages and the lack of resources and adequate
transport has made access to healthcare very difficult.
KISUNYA recognises these difficulties and is currently working to negotiate a
mobile health provision by government personnel and the association intends to
contribute towards the provision of health services through schools and markets
to innoculate, vaccinate and treat patients on a regular basis. Details of this project are still
being finalised.
